Khlong Saeng River Basin Conservation Area

Plaisang is located within the vast Khlong Saeng Wildlife Sanctuary, which was officially designated as a protected area in 1974. Covering extensive parts of Surat Thani Province, including Tambon Takuk Nuea, Vibhavadi District, Tambon Khao Phang, and Tambon Kraisorn, the sanctuary spans approximately 772,500 rai. In 1983, a portion of 49,875 rai was reshaped due to the construction of Ratchaprapha Dam, leading to the formation of the iconic Cheow Lan Lake. The name “Cheow Lan” originates from one of the rapids in Khlong Saeng, with its winding canal serving as a natural boundary between Khlong Saeng Wildlife Sanctuary and Khao Sok National Park.

Flora and Fauna of Plaisang:

Plaisang, along with Khlong Saeng, was once part of an extensive evergreen forest. Situated within the Tenasserim mountain range, this region boasts one of southern Thailand’s richest ecosystems.
